So I am going to be making a trip to Idaho in the summer for some Alpine climbing in the backcountry. I will be carrying approx 25 lbs. I currently use 5.10 camp four approach shoes and have been using these as my crag boots for a while...my question to all you "gurus" is....would you stick to this shoe for a week in the backcountry, with scrambling etc or would you go with the lighter trail runner?

I went to Elephant's Perch once, but I doubt I have any more info than you can find on the web. It's a beautiful place. The lake is well stocked, so if you know how to fish, I recommend it. There's some info here:

Mosquitos could be bad depending on your timing. Usually later is better. Have fun!

Yeah we are going first two weeks in Aug. Everyone I have spoken to says thats around the best time for weather and less snow. Mosquitos ok in Aug? It will be my girl and I, which we prob won't hit up the Perch, she had shoulder surgery etc so she is still just kinda getting back into the vertical game. Prob hit up Heyburn, Regan and either Packrat or El Cap depending...I just want to be out there...so tired of everything here
