For my communication class at UofL, our small group(4 people) has to plan a random act of kindness to benefit a charity or group in need, then present our planning process and the act to the class.

I would like to have our group do something to help the RRGCC, whether it's a raffle, or helping out with a trail day or something. Does anybody have any ideas for feasible ways to help out. Thanks for your time.

any fund-raising is great!

you could plan a trail day on PMRP property. if you're interested in doing that (or anyone else who wants to), you can come up with a date, a plan, materials needed, etc. and then PM me. I'll put you in touch w/the PMRP property manager and help with publication/announcements/legal stuff (the almighty waivers) and just generally help you make it happen.

Seeing that it is for a communications class, how about putting together a one-minute video advertisement on the RRGCC and its mission.

How about setting up a raffle to benefit the PMRP property. Purchase a chance to win a really fine rope and guidebook or something at some point in the spring with a donation of some bucks. Maybe one of the local suppliers would be willling to help get something at cost. It may be easier to get people to shell out a few bucks for a shot at something than it is to get them there for trail day. For some reason I cant ever get my calendar synchronized.

start a cheerleading/between pitches 'halftime' RRG dance team. the Communications majors at UNC were [women] very good dancers, and generated a lot of enthusiasm.

Thanks for all the ideas! I really like the idea of the video, I have some video editing experience and access to decent equipment, and it would be easy to get the other students involved. Is this a big need for the RRGCC? I could mix some climbing footage with an interview with a RRGCC rep, whatever you guys thought would most benefit the cause.

A trail day would provide some immediate and quantifiable help, but it might be hard to convince my group that spending a weekend day building trails in the red is worthwhile.

Seriously, we have the trail work dialed. Last year we had the opportunity to have a video ad on the Dead Point Magazine website for Rocktoberfest but couldn't get it together due to production cost considerations. A short advertisement could be given to our Outdoor Industry partners to use as a trailer to videos of their sponsored athletes climbing on the PMRP.
