State of the Union: Will you be fooled?

So it is State of the Union time people! Get excited for thunderous applause separated by a bunch of BS. To recap this past year in Obama lies/broken promises:

Accepting public campaign financing – nope.
Closing Guantanamo – nada.
Health care debate on CSPAN – not so much.
A new era of transparency in government – quite the opposite.
No bills with earmarks – not even close.
Hope and change – you make the call.

Anyway, I’m starting to feel bad for our President. I sure felt bad for G W after things went south in the wars and economy, and the press really beat him up. I don’t want the same to happen to our current president, so I am going to offer him some free advice. The problem with all Obama’s lies and broken promises is that they are so amateur and obvious. The key component to an effective lie is that it must contain some elements of truth – particularly the pieces that people see and will measure you on. All experienced politicians already know this!

So here is my advice to the president – he needs to effectively deceive the American people tonight by proposing something that is fiscally responsible; after all, he campaigned for that. So President Obama – I suggest you propose a federal government discretionary spending freeze. Yeah, it sounds crazy, trying to reign in spending and all – but the dirty little secret is that this promise would do the opposite. The discretionary spending was increased by an average of over 20% in the 2010 budget, so a “spending freezeâ€

[Thunderous Applause]

Obama's 2009 score:
- 44 drone missle strikes in Pakistan
- 5 key Al Quaeda and Taliban leaders killed
- 700+ civilians killed in collateral damage
