Online Guide Suggestion

Would it be possible to automaticly link a route name to the online guide?
This way when someone talks about this route or that route, as they type it in, it becomes a link to the guide, and could pop up in a new window.
I think this would be a great feature.
Usually when I read about someone doing a route and it sounds interesting, by the time I've read all the other posts, I forget all about the route I was wanting to check out.

Well, it can certainly be done manually. 8)
It would be a lot of work to parse each post, match to a name in the database, then create a tag.

I have another suggestion-- what about whenever you are reading about a route, there's a link to the previous and next route at that crag? I think it would be more efficient than having to click the crag name and then go to the previous/next route yourself. Just a thought.

Ok, some pretty shady "prev" "next" links have been added. I've always wanted to do them, but my compatriot didn't think it was wirth trying to handle the "3a" routes etc.

So I compromised. It doesn't handle "3a" at all. It might try, I haven't examined what happens.

So, for somebody with ADD and ATD,
What the hell are you talking about Jack?

Yasmeen asked for Previous and Next buttons. They've been on the todo list forever, and are *easy* to do, so I did them.

Except they don't really work all the time. Every route has a "map number", the number you'd put next to it on the little map of the crag. They mostly are just Johnny's numbers, so when new routes get added we give them "numbers" like "3a" for the route between 3 and 4.

My previous and next buttons don't understand such subtleties. The route after 3 is always 4. The route before 4 is always 3. Even if there is a 3a.

Still, better than nothing. If I can finish this other project (get out of school), I'll probably fix them.

Oh yeah, as far as route linking, I think that's too hard.

What might be easier however is the opposite. Click on a route in the guidebook, and at the bottom will be a link "search the board", and it'll search for posts about that route. I still haven't done that, because I would have to learn how the search button at the top of this page works. Today is only 3+1=4, and 4-1=3 for me.
