Best time of year to visit?

Hi,
I'm planning to visit RRG in 2010. I live just South of London, England and I've never been to the States so I have no idea what to expect from climbing in Kentucky!
First off, when is the best time to come, any suggestions?
I'll be staying for about 10 days so will need recommendations for accommodation. I'm after a modest but comfortable place that's got good food and beer after a hard day's climbing!
I was thinking somewhere in Winchester assuming the drive to the RRG is an easy one?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Nathan

The fall is best. But the weather is flickle in Kentucky. In 10 days though you should at least get a couple of good days. THis is worst case senerio of course. Stay in the gorge, accomadations are not five star but you can get most everything you need here in the gorge.

From the looks of things, the first thing I might have to ask is are you black?

No really, 1999 out of 2000 people here are super kool. Thankfully it doesn't matter that the hell you look like.

You can be blacker than a stack of black cats or whiter than rice. We are all super kool.

go here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lexington,_Kentucky and convert the temperature table to °C

and pick your conditions. It precipitates at about the same rate during the year as this chart bears out.

I run a hostel in the gorge. We are located in Zachariah Ky. There is a beer store about 500 feet away. We have 4 rooms for rent. $10 per individual or $30 a room. If you rent the room you get to lock the door. pretty nice if you are going to stay for a while. We have a common kitchen area and two refrigerators. Hot showers. Bring your own linen or sleeping bag. Beds are twin and queen. contact me at

first, why does it take caribe three posts to answer, and THEN I still am too stupid to understand what he wrote. I think he meant to say that the temps are all over the place and it rains alot...
that being said, my wife is Scottish (Edinburgh) and is probably more distasteful to your liking than a black man...I hear the Brits think they run that little island. Let us know when you are coming. Maybe my wife will ask for some real Scotch, real chocolate, or some haggis...
and caribe, are you black, cause it might be an issue?

No, not really.
Piggie put 2 and 2 together. This response spilled over from my last post.
That discussion turned into Obama's race from Artsy's surprise that the guidebook was selling for >$200 on Amazon. I was just running with the trend.
