Question: Where is the closest liquor store to the Red? I am not a big beer drinker, or wine or Zima drinker, and I hate making a 5.5 hour road trip with a half gallon of whiskey in the back of my jeep. Is there anywhere remotely close or convenient that I could stop to get some hard liquor before I get to Slade?

Stop in Lexington or Winchester. If you are coming south on 75 go down a two exits past 64, get off on man o war, and there is a liquor barn on your left. Easy to jump back on 75 and get to 64.

Or as you're you're heading east on 64, take the main exit into Winchester. The one with the theaters on your right and a Shell gas station on the left. Head right off I64, get in left lane to light.
Look left and you will see the liquor store on the corner.
Other than that you can head to the liquor store in Campton and expect to pay the mayor a high price for a bottle. Campton is not on your way either.

I don't think a half gallon gets you a bootlegging citation.

When you walk into the Man-O-War Liquor Barn, you might get a sense of what heaven is like ... if such a place exists.

I believe that's Van Meter road. There is also a Kroger a little further down on the right that has a liquor store. It's handy if you're picking up food too.

I always thought that heaven would be the top 30 feet of the Solarium. With a liquor barn just over the rim.

If you do the L Barn, don't try any funny business in there.
The security guard is old but he's pretty sharp.

I think this is the first thread I've ever seen with eight comments in a row that stayed on topic.
