If you're gonna do the Red, get a room at Lil' Abner because camping sucks in August. Find shady spots too.

I want to go somewhere other than the Red, since I'll be going there once or twice a week up until then. I was thinking about Red Rocks, Nevada... anyone have any beta on the area and what a good guidebook would be?

I think the average temp for Red Rocks that time of year is around 8 million degrees.
I will admit I have never been there, but I do have some beta for the place: Try not to die of heat stroke. If you are looking for a guidebook, I think there's one out called "Climbing Destinations in Red Rocks Nevada Where Heat Stroke Fatalities Are the Lowest in August". :) j/k. If you go, let me know how it is.
