Guilty pleas result in fines, penalties following Nada Tunnel fire
WINCHESTER, Ky., August 17, 2009 – Ten individuals recently pled guilty in federal court for causing a forest wildfire in the Red River Gorge nearly one year ago. The fire burned a total of 70 acres in the Daniel Boone National Forest in Powell County, Ky. near the Nada Tunnel. At the time of the fire, a state-wide burning ban was in place, as well as a burning ban on national forest lands.
