I know that this is a total n00b question, but my gear got wet and now my cams won't cam. Is WD40 a safe bet for re-lubricating them? (hehe)

WD40 will attract dirt and grime.

Go with Metolius Cam Lube. Use one drop on the axle where it meets the cam and work the cam a couple times letting it flow into the cam/axle interface. They also have a cleaner that will wash off the axle rust and dry clean.

Cam lube's the best out there. Had a "frozen" cam years ago, one drop of lube, worked like new.

Cam Lube is White Lightening, the bike chain lube. You can get it at any bike store.

Yeah, I have used White Lightening on my bike chain. The stuff is like a wax, definitely does not attract dirt.
