ISO housing and climbing partners for Oct-Nov!

Post by PatentLeader »

I have the opportunity to work from home, so I'm looking to spend October 3 until it's too cold to climb (maybe early Dec?) in the Red. I've also posted on craigslist in Lexington but hoping to find something even closer to the RRG! Hoping to spend around $350/month or less, but open to discussion depending on furnishings, proximity to awesomeness, etc. If you're out towards Lex, I'd probably spend 2-3 days working, 2 days climbing/camping at Miguel's, then repeat.

For work, I'd need some space to set up a desk and high-speed internet (they claim cable, I'm sure DSL is probably fine). Obviously a private room would be ideal so my work doesn't disturb you and viseversa, but hey--we're all climbers. If you're just looking to offer a guy a corner in your basement and a spot on your couch I'm sure we can make that work too. :D Between occasional camping and a few weekends back in DC to check in with the office, I'd probably only be around half the time anyway.

About me: 26, male, professional. Into climbing, road biking, yoga, hiking/backpacking, cooking, playing guitar/bass. Pretty laid back and easy going. Usually just use home to work and rest, and head out to party when the mood occasionally strikes. Non-smoker (but friendly).

About my climbing: Been sport climbing/leading for about 9 years now. When I'm in shape, pretty comfortable on 11s and into the 12a-b range. Used to lead trips through school, so between those two things I've had some uber-awesome belaying skills engrained into my genes. Also started getting into trad late last Fall and would love to keep improving there. Have a couple dozen leads under my belt--comfortable leading 5.6ish, can push and have done a couple really fun 5.8s. Happy to follow up to my sport grade.

About my dog: I do have one, and hopefully he can come live and climb in the Red with me! 1.5-yr old Border collie mix. House-broken, quiet, crate trained and very obedient. He does still have some of that hyper puppy energy, but is very friendly with all people and other dogs. Actually, if you've seen it he's kind of like Doug in the movie Up! A fenced yard would be ideal for him, but beggars can't be choosers. Also I'm not sure if I'll be able to arrange to bring him with me for weekends in DC, so if you are willing to watch him 1-2 weekends per month, that would be fantastic.

That's about it. If you have a space starting early October for 2-3 months, or know someone else who does, let me know! flory DOT chris AT gmail

Cheers,
Chris

It's all relative, eh? I mean compared to the general population, 5.12 climbers are typically hot, but are they still hot when surrounded by 5.13 and 5.14 climbers?

...and maybe I am rich but still incredibly cheap. $350/month seems to be pretty common for sharing a house in downtown Lexington, so I figured the same might be true out in the Boonies.

I have an apartment for rent that is 45 minutes from the Motherload. (In Richmond) BIG spacious one room. Your neighbors would be climbers in your range, pro mountain bikers, and pilots that sky dive. There are other perks like a bouldering wall in the basement.
PM me if interested.
