SoIN bouldering - FOUND

I'm sure a lot of people have visited Hemlock Cliffs, only to be disheartened by the clammy, mossy choss there. However, there is hope. Nearby, there's easily accessible bouldering (and short routes if you're keen) on steep, solid sandstone. There's doubtless much more in the area, but I haven't had time to check out all the leads there yet. Here's a bit of a taster of what's there so far. If you're interested and you've got a crashpad, write back or give me a call at 812.347.2770.
Peace,
Ryan

google maps says it would take me 2 hrs and 47 mins to get there from the east side of cincy....
the pics look good but what is the story with this area? is it on private land or state forest land? is it legal to climb there? is it too damned hot to be developing boulders?...
looks cool though... i'd at least be willing to kill a day out there falling off rocks with ya!

It's almost an hour from Louisville, so that sounds about right. Access to the area above is unknown at present (haven't been able to visit the Perry County Courthouse yet), but appears to be on Hoosier National Forest land. If so, climbing there is just fine. Regardless, it's remote and unlikely to attract attention for quite some time. There are areas nearby within a five minute drive that I have not yet been able to check out that are also on HNF land. It is WAAAAY too humid to be scrubbing, but there's no point waiting on the weather, especially when it's been one of the coolest summers in memory. I'd be stoked if you came out, but it'd be a hell of a trip for some FAs at what is so far only a small (if pleasant) area.
Best,
Ryan

From the HNF web site
Rock Climbing and Caving:
Rock climbing is permitted on most National Forest land with the exception of a portion of Hemlock Cliffs.
So climbing there is cool.

Based on the pictures it looks to be a hang out for homosexuals. I doubt I will be going.

'YOU' didn't find it! That area is reportedly on private property and is a registered historic site!

not to mention the rock quality looks like ass. leave the southeastern bouldering to TN, GA, and NC!
