It affect me in that it puts a lot of people in my field out of work thus making it harder for me to find a job if I am ever laid off. I manage body shop parts at a large Honda dealership in central Ohio. Honda is still doing ok and people will never stop crashing their cars so I am safe....for now.

That list is too long and not sorted by state see what dealers in my area are affected

And GM is going to start importing Chinese made cars. But don't worry - this is all "change we can believe in"

If only GM and Chrysler, etc would have caught on earlier and got the message that people don't want to buy disposable, crappy cars they might have been able to compete with Toyota and Honda.

Actually, they were okay with that since they couldn't figure out how to make money on cars anyway. But they made big bank on trucks and SUVs and, when times were good, they rolled over for the unions and gave them whatever they wanted, resulting in huge labor and retirement costs. Then, almost overnight the gas guzzlers stopped selling. Now the government thinks they can fix things. We'll see.

its not the companies that need to change.

it is the people of excess, instant gratification, and no world for tomorrow that must change.

Does anyone know if the GM list has come out yet?

I heard some stat that the average GM factory worker made 70k a year comparied to the average Honda/Toyota worker who made 40k..numbers are aprox. I guess its the point that as soon as the gas guzzler where projected to stop selling they should have had a back up plan. I agree anticlimber, its people that need to change that is always the case but those same people who refuse to change are the same people who want/wanted the government to bail out the auto industry.

So much for my life long dream of owning a blinged out, tricked out, pimped out Escalade...
