the grade changing ghost

Post by ahab »

please show yourself.

i've noticed that quite a few routes have had changes in their grade recently. so, a couple of questions.

who changes them?
is it based on the online guide grade consensus?
and finally, is there any way a sticky thread could be set up listing all recently changed grades?

thanks for your time.

It's me. I base the print edition off of the online guide. I'm changing stars and grades to prep for the next edition. They're based partly on consensus and partly on my own opinion. There's a lot of star chopping and grade fixing going on.

I keep wondering if you're going to fork off the PMRP and Muir areas into a separate book, because about 60% of the guide (RRG proper) is basically the same each time.

Ahab, I'll start to make notes in the online guide when I've changed a grade. I adjust the stars frequently though so it would become kind of cumbersome to keep track of them. I can't remember the grades I've changed. Not too many though. Mostly obvious soft lines at Muir. Paradise Lost was changed recently too.

Not sure about spinning off two separate books. We tossed that idea around with the 2nd edition but it just seemed like a better idea to keep it as one.

I'm trying to use the consensus stuff to its max potential in the 3rd edition. I really appreciate everyone voting on the quality and grades of routes.
