So how many sport routes at the Red require a 70 meter rope? Does anyone even know of any?

I have not read all of my Red River Gorge Rock Climbs second edition book yet, but so far the only requirement I have found is a 60 meter rope.

I have a friend that swears he knows of 3 routes that required a 70 meter rope, but I haven't been able to find any in my book yet.

I have a 60 meter rope and that is why I am asking. I saw someone on here say that you should buy a 70 meter rope for the RRG, but KD said he has been using a 60 meter rope his whole climbing career and never needed anything longer.

omaha and transworld both require a 70. you can use a 60 for the madness and pushin' up daisies if you jump from the chains.

you should buy a 70 meter so you get stronger carrying a heavier pack. Plus, since you are going to be falling a lot when you climb you will inevitably need to be cutting sections off the end so a 70m will save you money.
On top of that, you should buy a 70 so that you can climb two short routes at once.

game boy at long wall for sure. bring your game head too, for the lichen-y slope-ness at the top.

second that! also there are no fixed anchors on that climb, so bring webbing for a tree rap

60m can do no place like home

After a few dozen falls on one end, you can unravel the other half and climb on that for the next 6 months.. Plus my long 70M allows me to sit in the car and belay in comfort from parking lots.

A 70 will get you down from Whiteout in one rap. Pretty sure you would need to do two with a 60....

There are likely a bunch more where a 70 is just more convenient.
