Remember those 655,000 "excess deaths" in Iraq?

The ones supposedly caused by U.S. troops in Iraq. The study was funded by Soros, of course, and it looks like it was a pack of lies. Johns Hopkins University (who's credibility is at stake) is also conducting an investigation. Stay tuned. http://www.abcnews.go.com/PollingUnit/s ... 754&page=1

The left look for every opportunity to smear America and American service people. Somehow it always seems to fit their agenda.

Those dirty liberal commies! How about all the Commie Pinko Liberal Veterans I hang out with, they smear themselves?

Your little pejorative summations demean your arguments. I know you are capable of thoughtful discussion, why do you continue to use brainwashed politico newspeak?

Give us the link, maybe supply an opinion, try not to use pedestrian terms like "the left" and maybe your argument will raise above the level of Big Brother speak. I believe you're smarter than that, it's time for you to realize it.

Charlie, you're right I probably should have said the Far Left, you know people like Soros who pay big money for cooked research in an effort to swing public opinion with a lie. But I have a dear friend who's pretty much a main stream liberal who started screaming at me at a Thanksgiving party about the 650,000 innocent Iraqis that "we killed". When I told him he was spouting bogus numbers he bet me a hundred bucks that he was right. When Johns Hopkins finishes their investigation I'll be sure to let him know he lost. There's only one reason that the "researcher", that is propogandist, would refuse to reveal his methodology. Scientists never do that. He's busted and he knows it.

War always has collateral casualties. Smart bombs and all the high techs are now expected to eliminate that. Well it can't be done 100%. The media, be it conservative or liberal have their nose into everything that's done, comment by the hour, and really create a problem for the military. We try to fight these new wars by avoiding any negative confrontation or consequences, public opinion, etc.. and it just won't work. Nukes were developed as the end-all to senseless battles and huge loss of American lives, then used as the mighty fist to shake and threaten enemies into peaceful submission. But after 60 plus years of not using them again for war, not making good on their continued value, we are right back in the same situation with lengthy wars with no exit plan and plenty of loss of life. Think if the crazies ever got a nuke they would hold back from using it on us? Do terrorists even care about 'collateral damage' ? Hell no, its part of their lifestyle for a thousand years. Die a martyr today instead of living a useful life tomorrow.

I love you Charlie. And I love how LK just spouts the particular links that fit his agenda or win him $100. I love America. I hate people who accuse me of not loving the country of my birth because I happen to disagree with their particular agenda. That seems to be LK's approach to the debate. or he just calls you an idiot which is another particularly clever technique.

Look it's no secret that the mainstream media is decidedly left. Wether it be "far" left or "moderate" left makes no difference. As a consumer of news and media you have to realize that whatever facts you may come across are sent through a human filter, and in this case that filter has shown time and time again to be leaning in one direction- left. I think that anyone passionate enough to take part in this debate can be considered patriotic to some extent.

Agree, educated people need to filter the news for truth. But the average human brain is pretty much capable of the same functions today as say, 20 years ago. But as we know, since then in the age of I.Tech., we are flooded with blogs, 'news', personal hate webpages disguised as a 'news' page, and many a person is not capable or responsible enough to sort out the extra non-fact crap. Magazines and regular newspapers have editors and research specialists who are responsible for printing mostly the facts. Certainly not so in todays world. There wasn't an ' internet controls and censorship' class required nationally before someone logs on and gets access to all that is out there. Before the net', you had to go out and search magazine stands for various sources of opposing info. Now it flows endlessly into your home on your laptop.

Larry, I'm not sure how "Far Left" is any less a pejorative and general statement than Left. What does "far left" even mean anyways? There are thoughtful conversations with people that have dialogue with each other even if they don't see eye to eye, and then there are pedestrian conversations with people that scream about unjustified numbers and throw around general terms like Left and Right.

No reason to not bring your A game because you were caught talking to the Jr Varsity earlier. Not all of us are that close minded. Opinions are opinions, they rarely fit nicely into little boxes.

Izzy, that "liberal media" myth has been debunked many times over the years, most recently by Scott McClellan (Bush's Press Secretary). There are just as many conservative op eds as there are liberal and that applies to Mainstream as well. The slant goes both ways. There are viable news sources, you just have to think about it a bit.
