Ice Damage in the Red

The amount of ice that formed during the recent storm varied significantly from place to place. Stanton was relatively unfazed. But Wolfe, Powell and Lee Counties were hit particularly hard. Power will be out from 10 days to 3 weeks for some customers in Wolfe County, according to the power co.
Muir Valley was hammered. There is a good chance that Roadside, the Southern Region, and other areas were also hit just as hard.
Virtually all of the trails in MV are impassable. Almost all of the thousands of small pines have been destroyed. Regardless of what climbing area you favor -- PMRP, Muir, the Lode, etc. -- your local crag is going to need a lot of volunteer labor during the next few weeks to cut away fallen trees and restore trail systems and climbing bases.

I'd imagine we're all going to be coming across a lot of fallen trees that we don't remember from last season... these ice storms can do an amazing amount of damage. they do seem to form 'pockets' of varying intensities throughout the forests, too.
i'm also going to assume that some of our favorite nooks in the forest are now missing tremendous chunks of canopy--so nobody be alarmed!! and pack your hatchets!

None of this should be a problem. I have 10 gallons of High Test for Mark Jackson's chainsaw.
Will not take longer than 45 minutes, tops!

i had to buy a chain saw because a tree hit my climbing wall. will be glad to help there mv or prmp or both.

Thanks KD and others who PM'd us offering help in clearing MV trails. Contact us privately for a temp pass to drive into the Valley (IF you have 4-w drive). The road down into the Valley from the parking lot has been cleared. The emergency/maintenance road through the Valley is blocked in many places with fallen trees and limbs.
And please don't chainsaw alone.
