On Saturday, February 7, 2009, the RRGCC will be holding a meeting at Torrent Falls, followed by a party. During the meeting, which will start at 1:00 pm, new Board members and officers for the coming year will be elected. During the remainder of the meeting details of the RRGCC’s events and other programs for 2009 will be discussed. Climbers interested in becoming involved as volunteers are especially encouraged to attend this meeting.
The party will start Saturday evening at 6pm, also at Torrent. After serving for six years on the RRGCC Board of Directors, Dr. Bob Matheny will be retiring from the BOD. All are invited to come to the party and help us thank Dr. Bob for his service to the Red River Gorge climbing community! As with other events held at Torrent people are encouraged to carpool due to the limited parking available at Torrent.

As of yesterday Dr. Bob said Torrent was w/o power and water. We are still going ahead with the afternoon meeting no matter what. Might have to cancel the party if his utilities aren't restored by the weekend?
Somebody asked about climbing @ Torrent before the meeting. Though there was no bldg. damage Bob said there were at least 8 large hemlocks down and new snags hanging off the top of the cliff. Instead of coming early to climb it might be a nice gesture to Bob to come early with gloves and tools to help clean up the mess.

Still no power as of yesterday. With the predicted temps Bob is thinking we might be able to have the meeting by the fire pit. I'll ask Bob about the generator. If it would make the party possible it would be worth it.

Mike is bringing his generator so it looks like the party is on! The party is BYOB and any snacks or other food you could bring will be appreciated.
