Hi,

I'm interested in visiting for a climbing trip in mid February. If any locals could give me an idea of what sort of climbing conditions could be expected in mid Feb then that would be useful to hear. I'm coming from Switzerland to Knoxville for a work trip anyway but am trying to find out whether it is a good idea to extend my trip and visit RRG too.

Thanks in advance,
Bruce

Just depends on your luck. If it's cold and wet here, just boulder in AL and GA.

i would bring a bouldering pad and plan on that. IF the weather is actually nice for a change post up here and you'll find a partner.

It's hit or miss. Depends on your tolerance. If you are willing to climb routes with temps in the 30's F (0 C) then you will probably be in luck. Otherwise, head south.

bring a bouldering pad from Switzerland? thats kind of a rediculous suggestion Josie. I have had great weekends in February in the past but this year has been pretty cold. i'm sure there will be some nice days but i wouldn't put all your eggs in one basket. you could probably find people to boulder with and share a pad with at Horse Pens or Rocktown as a back up plan.

Just climb at the Obed. Should be warmer.

Climbed on a 70 degree day in Feb once, but it gets cold and wet at times too. Very unpredictable more than a week in advance. If you're spending more than a couple days there's a good chance you'll get at least some tolerable weather.

 guess i should have read it more closely.

on second thought - bring your climbing gear and plan to climb down south. not nearly as good - but not nearly as cold either.
