Hens Nest
Does anyone know of any closures in the area? I noticed someone posted there were fences in front of Sultan and Finger Lickin in 07, are they still in place? Never been out there and looks like it will be good for tommorro!

do you call keeping an area where ancient natives made poopie "bullshit?" we must protect and respect those ancient poopies or they will be lost forever. imagine the world of archaeology without a fresh supply of ancient indian shit! just think ...over 3000 years ago an ancient adena sat there and pooped - probably pissed too. No tellin what he/she wiped their asses with! All that valuable resource needs to be left undisturbed. The fact that now-gone people used to shit is way way more important that the fact that people today have and use technology and skill to climb dum ol rocks!
Nope, the signs say something about an "experiment" or some shit. Used to be because of flowers that weren't even there. You should email them your reason though... it sounds more convincing.KD wrote:do you call keeping an area where ancient natives made poopie "bullshit?" we must protect and respect those ancient poopies or they will be lost forever. imagine the world of archaeology without a fresh supply of ancient indian shit! just think ...over 3000 years ago an ancient adena sat there and pooped - probably pissed too. I was there a few months ago, only a few routes are closed, still worth going there.
Also the closed sign does have contact info and a phone number on it for whatever the group is doing the archeological dig. I would think it reasonable to ask when they will finish the dig. I have seen lots of closures for this and it doesn't seem like anyone is actively digging there.
We all need to play nice together, but this is getting ridiculous...

I've been a gumby longer than you've been climbing.
Everybody knows that ancient indians used to wipe their asses with flowers. these flowers will of-course be gone because they used them as an ass-wipe supply. The experiment is to see if the now renitrofied pollens will sprout when mixed with the paleonitrogens from ancient indian poopies. the coalition and all of us climbers must support and obey these temporary closures. remember anything closed temporarily will be open once we are all dead - so jus be patient. it's for your own good.

I went there once with a couple people. On the way out one of our party stops in the middle of the river in front of a boulder and then fell in to it and cut a gash in his forehead. You get dizzy if you look down at the rushing river too much. It's a wonder we didn't all drown with trad racks on our backs. I lost a nice Gerber leatherman that day. I wonder if someone found it under that 8 next to Sultans. I've had 3 since then and they all been junk compared to that one. Anyway, Sultans of Stem was a fine line.
