Passed on from the SCC:

The SCC is at it again... expanding YOUR climbing opportunities in the deep South.

We’re buying another crag in Alabama! The ink has barely dried on the contract for Crag X & we’re in full tilt fund raising mode!
The clock is ticking & we’ve got under 90 days till closing. Email & call your friends this is HUGE for southeast climbing! Even if you can only spare $10, every little bit helps. Spread the word & let’s get this thing done so we can all go climb at a new crag in early ’09!

so far we have raised over $2,000 in 12 hours - and another $8k was raised off the radar in the past 2 weeks.

Sorry for the secrecy on the name, the official announcement will be on December 5th at the Stone Fort Triple Crown bouldering comp. This project has been three years in the making.

Here’s a link with more info & to pledge donations.

A minimum $10 donation also gets you a year’s membership in the SCC. You can donate online on the SCC’s website under ‘Join Now’ & type ‘Crag X’ in the For box. But please post your pledge on the above link so we can track donations.

You can donate online here: http://www.seclimbers.org/modules.php?name=membership

just type in "Crag X" into the info box.

It’s an exciting time for SEclimbers. Let’s get this one paid for so we can move on to the next acquisition!

Thanks!!!

Hey, is this for real or just another internet scam for my money?
Just kidding Brad. Sounds great, can't wait to learn more about where it is.

this great and all but how can they expect people to give money (esp now) without knowing much about "crag-X". Would any of you have donated to the PMRP without being able to see it or climb there?

Am I missing something??

obviously the deal is sensitive, or they would be forthcoming. Given the great work they have done in the past, why not just trust what they say about the place? And will 25 bux break you? If so, then how about 10? They have folks donating $500-1000 for this! Anyone who can help out, should. Most of us benefit from the great work the SCC has done over the years. Forget about buying your dad yet another an ugly tie for Christmas. Let him know you donated that money for your own selfish pursuits!

That's where I think I am missing something. What are they saying about it? What does it compare to? The Red, the motherlode - muir valley. Is it bouldering or sport climbing. Sorry if I am just lazy or dumb and just haven't done my homework.

OK OK sounds good. I gotten give my usual to the PMRP for this year and I will throw in some for this crag x. I doubt i could ever drive by the red or hp40 unless crag x is better than those two places.
