This morning I went to the wall at Lowes by the creek in Lex.

Nice top outs. The grade is 5.8-5.10 ish. You can definitely get pumped if you stay on the wall long enough. Traversing is good training. The holds are fairly clean. Many of them are pretty good. I don't know how many times I drove by and wondered whether it was climbable.
I was not the first. Someone had been there already with chalk.
I enjoy this stuff. Does anyone have a favorite bildering site in Lex? I imagine that this activity is like skate boarding at the maul; eventually someone will show up and run you off.
Eden Park in Cincinnati by the old reservoir is an awesome spot to climb on artificial rock. I love that place.

There is a pretty fun circuit at UK I use to do. Start at the parking deck on Rose st (in front of the library). The whole outside can be traversed and topped out (via the red brick things that go all around.) There is also some stone work on the same parking structure on the library side.
Cross the street to the funkhouser building. On the leftside entrance brick wall peel back the shrubbery to reveal a glued on foot hole from back in the day (i think from MW), climb this problem, pretty fun.
Directly across from the funkhouser building is the infamous "McVey Sloper" problem (not really infamous at all). Sit start problem. Start on the medal frame bust of McVey reach for the book, and slap his head (the sloper) and top it out.
Head down past the engineering buildings climbing whatever looks cool.
If you're not arrested by now or run off, definitely stop to the stone pinnacle on your way out. It's located on the end of that road that feeds into limestone close to Kennedy's bookstore. It runs between the backside of the student center and the lawn in from of the Main administrative building. Anyways, its the last stone tower before hitting limestone st. Its like 14 feet tall. You have to boulder up it, top it out and leap to a tree branch to descend.
This should keep you busy. Security on campus does not condone this type of thing so either do them in your tennis shoes where you can run fast or be ready to explain why you're acting like an idiot. There are some pretty funny stories of folks getting harassed and even handcuffed doing these...

The wall outside of the Patterson building along Patterson Drive at UK ( across from the Armory ) is alright..at least to traverse. Very contrived though. ( unless yer short..).
Just endless, repetitive 5.8 moves..

I always look at that wall by Lowes but its usually when I'm on my way to the Red. It'd be a throwback to my skateboarding days.
I haven't checked it out yet but there also appears to be a sweet handcrack between Jimmy Johns and the new Dame too- hard landing if you f'd up though.

I can't bilder on campus, my employer would love that.
If you traverse Lowe's wall, you will likely get pumped. There are places where the holds seem to disappear. You can also pick your holds and push it. Good motion study and slab practice.

there is an ok traverse near the driveway next to POT. Its not high at all but long, brno and I used to traverse it on our breaks as undergrads, security drove up to us once and just left without saying anything, I think he realized we were not hurting anything, anyone, or ourselves.

I always analyze Paterson Office Tower when I walk by. I think someone has already sent it though.
WTF, Myke, I am going to check that out.
