Not my childhood, but one morning I walked into the kitchen to find
a box on top of a chair pushed up to the counter, a large bowl upside down on the counter, and my 18 month old son sitting on top of the fridge. Must have been one hell of a heel hook!

When I was two, I got so jealous of my older brother because my parents would let him climb the tree in the back yard and not me that instead of climbing it, my brother and I decided he could pull me up using a stick instead. Couldn't be doing something wrong that way. Naturally, I got dropped and my first set of stitches as a result.

When I was 18 months old I climbed up the toilet to the sink so I could brush my teeth. I took the fall, and fractured the back of my skull against the toilet paper holder.

This is a true story... when I was 4 or 5 I stemmed between the walls in the hallway and shimmied up until I was parallel with the ceiling. My mother only found me because I was giggling and she looked up. I don't have any recollection of the incident.

Courtney was always climbing up onto the kitchen counters to raid the cabinets when she was little. I thought for sure she was the next Beth Rodden. Now she wants no part of climbing. Go figure.
