I think that if we sponsor the route, and we want to climb it and someone else is on the route we get to kill them

I think a RRGCC membership should be included in every donation over $50. I mean, if you don't get anything from a membership besides being able to say you're supporting the RRGCC, then a membership should be included.
Also, instead of a certificate, how about a card. Maybe you could get some places to honor the card and give a small discount as a way of supporting the purchase.
I liked Lynne's suggestion about getting more things per said monetary amounts. Maybe you could get some local outfitting stores to donate several $25 gift certificates and for every donation of, say, $150 the donator gets a gift certificate. You could probably get some local climbing areas in Lexington and Cincinnati to donate 1/3/6 month memberships. Auction those off for higher amounts.
Just a few ideas...

I voted that I need no incentive, but Eric's idea has merit - and it's free!
Anything that cost money isn't a good idea in my mind - esp the professional photog stuff (unless that is donated). Your name on a tag on the route? No way - very offensive to the outdoor experience. The rest, name in a guidebook, etc. is good stuff.

I don't think anyone's name should be next to the route besides the FA's.
Just my opinion...

The photographer has already donated his time {Harrison SHull!}
Great suggestions, keep 'em coming!

I think it would be okay only if there was an entry for FA(s) and then another for Route Sponsor. The only trouble with this, if a printed guide will be made, is what happens if that Sponsor turns into a deadbeat (or moves or gets laid off or whatever)? Then the guidebook has the wrong name and a new sponsor might hesitate to support that route if those things matter to him/her. So maybe it's not a good idea... maybe a web page note of all route sponsors would make more sense?
Perhaps a better approach would be to forget about incentives all together, with the exception of free advertising for businesses. I hesitate to ask for donations other than money from businesses because that will lessen the cash they can pitch in and that's really where the big money will come from. Or am I missing something?
Including a RRGCC membership in with your annual route payment is good. Perhaps we could sell tee shirts for route sponsors (at a profit -all for the common good) with a cute saying about owning a climb, but general so they don't have to be personalized. Extra expenditures really need to be avoided, and donations of goods and services really won't help as much as cash. Though both would be great!
Just my rambling thoughts.. this is all new to me so I admit some of my suggestions may be ignorant.

actually, these are the only incentive I support on second thought, for those who want them:
- Certificate of sponsorship, with pertinent info regardingthe route
- Special link to weebsite saying that these people helped secured climbing on the Bald Rock-Coal Bank Hollow Property
Harrison Shull is a killer photog, no doubt, but instead of him spending his money on donated materials (and time), maybe he'd rather sponsor a route - and get the tax deduction.

Actually Harrison will be helping us to put a book together on the property. Hence the photo op!

Ok I voted for the name tag at the top of the route. The first time I saw one at DriveBy, I thought it was pretty cool. Being at the top of the route connected to the anchors does nothing to take away from the visual of the climb...not like it's a brass plaque at the base or spray-painted on. I do see where it would be easy for someone to remove though and is really just an added expense that is not really neccesary.
On another note, I plan on purchasing a route and want to be generous with the amount this year, but am not sure that I can follow through with the same amount every year. Specificly, I would like to give $250.00 this year, but would like to give $100 orr $150 each year there-after. Of course it's possible I could continue to give $250, but you just never really know when the money is going to be in abundance. Is there a problem with this?
Any thoughts?
