rrgcc.org wrote:Every year for the past eight years, climbers have come from as far as Australia, Poland, and the backwoods of your hometown just to partake in the fall festivities. With headlining events like Reel Rock Tour, Mountain Gear sponsored clinics, Black Diamond Gear Auctions, and our always stellar music line-up (The 23 Strings, The Slant Kings), it’s easily the best thing happening on the East Coast.

..

On top of the good times, there are awesome deals. La Sportiva will be selling their stellar V5 leather sandals for $20 (retail $40). Keen Footwear is bringing a truck load (really… a semi-trailer-full) of Targhee approach shoes that will be sold for $40 (retail $110). And the icing on the cake -100% of the proceeds from the Keen and La Sportiva shoes sold at this event go to the RRGCC. Let’s say that again: 100% of the proceeds will go to the RRGCC. For us, for you, for the PMRP, get a couple of pairs of new kicks and then sport them around your favorite crags in the PMRP. Mountain Gear is sponsoring their renowned climbing clinics with proceeds going to the PMRP. And The North Face is jumping into act, too, with a silent auction with more gear than your gear closet can handle.

..

Registration

Registration is open now. Online preregistration and prepayment come at discounted prices (payment at the event will be higher - please pay immediately after registration to secure your choices and lock in your costs). Unfortunately, we won’t be able to take credit cards at the event - so bring some greenbacks, they’ll come in handy. Camping on site at Bee Rocks is included in your Friday and Saturday venue admission.

Spread the Word!

With your online preregistration, you’ll receive an invite code. Let your friends know about the event and tell them to sign up with your invitation code - it earns you credits towards winning more schwag! (You must pay prior to the event for your invites to be valid)

And besides getting lower prices for registering online and guaranteeing a spot for the events, the first 200 registrants get a bag full of schwag.. so don’t wait!

Just in case you aren't on the RRGCC mailing list this is what was sent out last week. Band links are included. Now that the word is out & RRC.com is back up I am looking to see a big bump in registrations 8)
Hey Everyone,

Online Registration is now open for the 8th Annual RRGCC Rocktoberfest!

This year Rocktoberfest is not to be missed. Coming off the killer time that was the Petzl Sponsored Roctrip in 2007, we've got another festival worked out that promises to help you kick the fall season off properly. Black Diamond, Mountain Gear, Keen, and Petzl along with the Red River Gorge Climbers' Coalition are bringing you more live music than ever, as well as climbing films from all over the country.

The Reel Rock Fall Tour - http://www.reelrocktour.com/ will make a stop at our amazing venue in the beautiful Red River Gorge just to get your palms sweaty. Aside from the latest releases from Sender Films - http://www.senderfilms.com/ and Big Up Productions - http://www.bigupproductions.com/, the Reel Rock Tour includes winners of the short film contest from all over the country.

Now, aside from the killer films all weekend, we've got some amazing talent from right here in Central Kentucky. Our lineup includes the first ever combination of these Central Kentucky powerhouse bands..... The Phat Maverics - http://www.myspace.com/thephatmavericks , Big Fresh - http://www.myspace.com/bigfresh , Club Dub - http://www.myspace.com/clubdubband , The Sexual Disaster Quartet -http://www.myspace.com/sexualdisasterquartet , The Slant Kings - http://www.myspace.com/theslantkings , and our favorite kids from The 23 String Band - http://www.myspace.com/the23stringband .

With more music than ever, incredible new films from around the country, athletes from all the climbing rags, clinics for all levels, an all-out throw down enduro competition, and more schwag than your hatchback (and dog) can handle, how much of a bummer would it be to miss Rocktoberfest? Even if you feel like you could forgive yourself for missing the fun, keep in mind all proceeds go straight to the RRGCC and help us pay off the PMRP!

The first 200 to register online will get a bag full of schwag. But hurry and register online now for exclusive online pricing and to guarantee your spots and free goodies. We'll have camping onsite this year so reservations are recommended!

Events, sponsors, venue details, and registration are all explained in detail at http://rrgcc.org/rocktoberfest. Any questions, comments, or generally loving thoughts can be directed to rrgcc@rrgcc.org. If you'd like to help us out with street team efforts by hanging fliers or if you want to volunteer at any point over the weekend kick us an email at volunteer@rrgcc.org.

What measures are taken to confirm that the people taking up parking spaces, attending the parties, etc have registered? The reason I ask is that myself and a friend were down last year to climb, not knowing that Rocktoberfest was going on that weekend (or even that it existed). Once we found out there was an event, we went to the comp via the shuttle service and to the party on Saturday and never paid a dime. Certainly would have had we known we were supposed to; but we didn't and our presence and utilization were never questioned or confirmed. If my friend's medical situation is going to allow us to go, I'll be sure to go through the proper registration process this year... but I'm sure there will be plenty of other ignorant people to make our same mistake.

OH_Climber, Thanks for bringing that to our attention, although our very own savvy Rick Bost has put that all into consideration and has put a process in place. To compete in the comp, you'll have to get a special armband prior to competing.

It is endurance comp. Scoring is based on the number of bolts you clip.
