laptop suggestions

Post by Josephine »

so i'm looking for an inexpensive laptop for when i go back to school. inexpensive = less than $1000.00.

i would consider a mac, but i don't think they're in my price range so am looking for a PC.

i will be using it for word processing, internet, and occasional you-tube videos. i don't watch movies and i don't play games so nothing fancy.

light weight is good - and i would like a batter that can last at least 2 hours.

a friend suggested Dell and i'm looking at a Dell 1420 inspiron and that looks pretty good - but was wondering if anyone else had a suggestion of one to check out.

I just bought a Toshiba Satellite from Bestbuy and it's a piece of junk. I'd got the IBM or Dell.
I've had just about enough of this shit.

have a dell 1520 and it kicks ass!! it did cost about $1400 though but i have a lot of bells and whistles so it could be cheaper. i first bought one with vista and took it back and got windows xp much much better although i am not sure you can get xp anymore but i would try if i were you.

Go to Dell Outlet. Our family has 4 computers from there with no problems.

Buying computers is a lot like buying cars--you get that "Ford vs. Chevy" argument lots...and everyone is ready to tell you about the lemon they bought, and how they will never buy another one from "THAT" company. Wal-Mart has one on sale this week for under $400...but this late in the week, they are probably sold out everywhere--still may be worth checking, just in case they aren't. If you are the kind of person often returns things, watch out for places like Circuit City which charge a "restocking fee". I've bought lots of electronics--including computers-- that were open-box items, and saved bunches--with no problems. Most electronics stores in Lexington and other, larger towns have a clearance/OB section. If someone tries to sell you their used computer, be wary...after a couple of years, the battery life is usually half what it was when they were new.

Otherwise, check this once-a-week until you see something you like:

A refurb'd MacBook on Apple's website: $949

I bought a refurb'd MacBook a few weeks ago & I immediately became a better person. When I use it at the local coffee shop, I look sexier.
