RRG Virgin. Need suggestions

Post by ThomClimber »

Hello-
After driving through RRG a few times before I am about to make first climbing trip out there in a few weeks. I am a former trad climber, recently turned sport due to my surroundings and would like to get on some routes of each. Any recommendations on crags to hit up while in the area. I am a bit overwhelmed by the number of different possibilities.

Between my girlfriend and I any suggestions of sport climbs 5.11 and under and trad less than 5.10 would be appreciated. More importantly crags with diverse routes would be more appreciated.

Thanks. Climb on.

Join the crowds at Roadside and the Military/Left Flank areas. They're super-popular precisely because they have exactly what you're looking for! You could also check out Drive-By for great 10d and up sport climbs (there's a new 10a that isn't in the guide just to the right of Breakfast Burrito) and Oil Crack Crag for 5.7 and up sport (they're right next to eachoter) Drive By is clear enough in the online guide, but print out the guide for Oil Crack and ask around when you get there. Gaze in awe at A Clean Well Lighted Face (14a?) and don't miss Shaggy!
