Tendon pain

Ok, so, I've been playing guitar and mandolin a fair bit. However, I developed some pain in all the tendons on both hands. The pain is moderate, but makes typing, playing any instrument, or even holding a book painful. Basically, even if I'm just sitting my hands have a dull ache that does not go away. Particular points of pain are: the base of the thumb; the inside of the first join on my middle and ring fingers. I feel this is related to playing, but perhaps typing as well. I got tested for rhumatoid arthritis, turned up negative.

I Figured I would ask here since many of you have had tendon injuries.

Questions:

1) Also having other joint pain in the jaw (on occasion) and in my toes. WTF?

2) Forearms are also having pain on the underside tendons. WTF?

3) Total rest or should I used hand excercise equipment like thoe little hand squeezers?

4) I'm taking glucosamine. Has anyone found this to have a positive effect?

5) What therapies are recomended for this kinda bullshit?

Glucosamine is for the joints not the tendons. If its not working after a week or two, it's a tendon.

Hiya Huggy, I use a glucosamine/condroitin hybrid and it makes a world of difference. I have acute tendonitis in both shoulders and also follow a 13 exercise resistance/isometric routine 3 times a week involving an inflatable exercise ball, risistance bands and a dead fish  . This is after a month of thrice weekly visits to a physical therapist.
