Why do people hate Ohitians?

I am surely not trying to defend them, if fact, I am part of the I hate Ohio/ people fan club. Unfortunately, I now live in Ohio. Just wondering why there seems to be so much antagonism towards them as a whole.

BTW the term Ohitians is commonly used by the locals (ie Rednecks) at the Red. Actually, it is usually proceeded by the the word f!cking. Our old neighbor in Pine Ridge first told us about this term of endearment while complaining about having to rescue some stupid f- ing Ohitians in the gorge.

Mostly the falling off cliffs and driving in the left lane and refusing to get over, but that's just a start.

I never understood the whole driving slow in the fast lane thing so anyone who can offer an explanation my ears are open.

As a native to the RRG area and also someone who has lived (unwillingly as a minor) in Ohio I can attest that this is only the tip of the iceberg.

Along with these general offenses are perpetuating stereotypes of Ketuckians when they go back home, asking stupid questions.

THis is a true story - guy asked me what kind of license he needed to fish in Mill Creek Lake, not really understanding what he was asking I assumed he was talking about an out of state license so I asked him if he was in fact from out of state and he replied, "Well, that depends. Are we still in Kentucky?"

Shocked I said yes. His reply, "Well, then I'm from out of state."

THen there is the condescending looks, the act of assuming that people from Kentucky (and other states they visit) aren't as intelligent as buckeyes are.

But here's my question: if buckeyes are so smart, why do they live in a state they need to evacuate every weekend? It's a mystery to me.

That pretty much clinches it for me. As with everything else, however, it is easy to generalize. As a concept the FIFOs annoy me but I ave found many lovely, long-term friends hailing from Ohio.

ha ha... i think it stems from kentucky residents being bitter about low literacy rates.
