Real climbing ain't cheap..., never has been.

But yes, Lexington needs a good climbing gym, I still don't understand why nobody can make one go.

Patience grasshoppers, patience . . . I have strong suspicion that something is going to break.

Lexington needs a climbing gym and it might just be up to us. I am very much in favor of putting some effort behind a plan. If anyone is interested pm. Phillip Galls is a revolving door with folks coming in asking where people climb in Lex. A certain monolith with a large user group will be dismantled in ~ a month. The pressure will increase. The lack of a really kool multidimensional place to get tough is an issue that challenges local Lex climbers and really probes just how cohesive and sust this community is. Where there is will, there is way.

As Caribe said, patience. When details are ironed out, information will be disseminated forthwith.

The best way to get stronger in Lex is to move to Cincy.

That'd be great if Cincinasti weren't in Ohio and didn't suck ass!

The only thing wrong with Ohio is it is full of Ohioans. They do have good gyms.

On the note of cohesive climbing community, we have tried that and almost got a coop to fly but at the end of the day no one was willing to be the guy with his/her name on the lease (including me).
What needs to happen is one person take the chance and the loan and build a nice gym (world class- not ply wood ala climb time) and run it as a business.
Asking a lot, but I am very confidant that it would be a money maker for the person taking the chance.
Big money up front, and need for a big space (50' tall) that may not exist yet, but none the less, I think you could get your money back out of it and then some.
