Joint (no not the white ones) problems & dislocations

Post by whatahutch »

I hear about torn tendons all the time, but I think I just seperated the middle knuckle on my middle finger on my right hand. I did it during a hard training session, I have had a previous injury on my opposite hand so I know this doesn't put me down for the count, but it friggin hurts. Has anyone else ever did something similiar? Is this a common occurance?

campus training is good but usually ends up hurting, mix up your routine.

Just FYI, I deleted your other thread in the Personals/Classifieds forum. Please don't post the same thread in multiple forums.

how do you know you separated your knuckle? I think you probably injured one of the supporting tendons in the finger instead. I did this in Mid Jan. I kept climbing on more open holds. When I moved 3 of my fingers pain flared in the fingers and the ulna side of the forearm. Is this what you are experiencing? The pain eased off only a few weeks ago. I am crimping again but it is not as strong as the other hand. I had a few sessions with the ice bucket.

Separating the knuckle seems odd and even odder that you had a similar experience on the other hand. I think tendon injuries are more common.

see a hand doc. get it eval to define what the problem is. see a hand therapist (an OT or PT that has specialty trainging in hand rehab.

It may sound overkill, but if you think you did dislocate a joint, your rehab would be significantly shortened with the proper approach.

Thanks ya, I visited one of EKUs sports injury men, he said it was more likely a tendon tear. Without radiology he can't truly diagnose. Told me to stay off of it for the rest of the week and buddy tape it when I start using it again.
