What, a movie and a magazine article about a route in a closed area isn't discreet?

now now charlie... please read my posts..NO WHERE did I condone "sneaking around"....that was my point..if we "sneak around", then we are violating a certain level of "trust" that the RRGCC has built with our oil neighbors...I, for one, would not want to undo that hard work.

if we wish to make a point, then being upfront and in their face would be the way to go....but I also know that would need to be a concerted effort, and not one done by a bunch of gunslingers and selfish SOB's who just want to climb on closed routes....

DISCLAIMER: Don't climb at Oil Crack until things are fully opened and the RRGCC says we are allowed on our land.

maybe somebody will tell all these big shots about redriverclimbing.com and we can hear from them. Hell they're probably all staying in cozy cabins with internet access.

and while were talking about wanting to climb at closed crags, I'd love for pocket wall to open back up.

So, what was up with Sharma last Saturday? I'm glad he came down for the event and I'm glad he waved at us before we all watched his movie (which was quite good). But where was he Saturday when hundreds of folks gathered, many of us really looking forward to seeing him climb in person? Did he have more important things to do? I know it must not be fun to be under such a microscope. Kudo's to famous folks like Lynn Hill and Dave Graham for showing up and climbing. Maybe there's some explanation, but I came away not as impressed with Chris.

I think he was afraid of getting pumped on all the crimp ladders, that's my guess.

I thought Katie Browns book with the Chris Sharma interview shed some light on why he does what he does. I personally don't think he is afraid of the sport climbing Mr. Rhunt.

A couple of us saw Sharma meet up with Graham as he came out to the lode parking lot. They went to Bob Marley to work on 50 Words. It was great to watch Sharma basically walk the bottom 2/3 of the route. Graham spent about 30 mins working several sections, escpecially the 3rd to 4th bolt section. Kiehl, Katie Brown, and a couple of others were there too. It was almost weird watching them climbing without a big crowd falling all over each other.
