For my birthday I received the book "American Rock: Region, Rock and Culture in American Climbing" by Don Mellor. It's a great read and extremely informative and enjoyable. The author has traveled and climbed extensively throughout the country and it's refreshing to read his take on quite a few topics.

Just bought The Rock Warrior's Way. I know everyone & their dad has already read it but I'm finding it very enlightening. Now applying the teachings will be a challenge...

I am planning on taking one of his one-on-one lessons. hard to train the lead head - at least for me.

A classic piece on ego called, 'Le-Go My Ego' by Dr. Howard Fenster. Its got a good chapter on why people from certain states (Indiana/Kentucky) are more apt to front a big ego than people from other, less inbred/racist states.

I think it's GREAT that you're working on letting go of your ego issues, Smed. Just keep taking these baby steps and maybe one day, you too, can be free of the big, bad ego monster. It worked for Lat-er-ass and can work for you too!

Readings in progress: Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern World, Jack Weatherford
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Douglas Adams
The Language Instinct, Steven Pinker
Clearly I'm a little scattered at the moment.
Next up: a couple of DIY books on reading Old English texts, including an Anglo-Saxon dictionary
Rereading/finishing The Elegant Universe, Brian Greene. It's a book about string theory, including an extensive primer on modern physics.

I think I've gotten something by Pinker called THE BLANK SLATE. Haven't read it yet, though.
