Gumbies=Booty. I like new booty= I like gumbies. I swear to Warren Harding that what follows is a shocking but true story. A strong, yet naive young climber dude belayed by his caring, concerned sponsor (dad) was attempting to flash BMT or one of those other elite routes, I forget which. It was in the past. He made it thru the easy part without a problem. But the difficulties appeared soon thereafter and he could climb no higher. He decided to bail. They were concerned about what to use to bail. Some old dude told the father/son gumby team that it would best to err on the side of safety and suggested they use one of their locking biners. So the young aspiring 5.12 climber bailed using a shiney new locking biner. I think the old guy still has that biner unless of course some other asshole stole it.
So now you'd better stop and rebuild all your ruins,

Hey Piggie-- my ruling says that a person has to climb at the Red at least twice a year in order for any of his/her rulings to be approved as an official ruling.

Only twice? Couldn't you set the bar a bit higher? He'll be down here twice now! If you set it at ten times he might stop "ruling."

Don't worry, Alan. No need to set it higher. I promise.

yas, I appreciate the concern, but my rulings are good for any crag east of the mississippi river. I checked, and I logged 12 days at the red in 2004...did I pass your pass test?

there is a very simple reason for not climbing at the red more. when I want to climb real 12's with thought provoking moves, I go to real crags..jackson and the new in particular. when I want to climb over glorified 12's that are really 11 plus, I come home to the red.

wanna hear something scarey for you...the wife has applied for a job in lexington.

pigsteak, There are cool routes in the red. Soul Ram. Wild Gift. Infectious. Super Slab. Etc.

Lexington is a pretty cool place to live. I like it here. If only Boone/Rocktown/HP40/Rumbling bald were a couple hours away...

pigsteak, it counts, but only for that year. Once you log two weekends (or 4 days total, whichever comes first) in 2005, you can start talking shit that will be valid this year.

That's cool about the job! If you're in NC, get in touch with Andrew (he's on the board as that same name)-- he's been there for about a year now, I think, and he's even a real climber!! (He climbs 5.12 on a regular basis.)
