I better straiten and quit "goofing off" or no one in here will take me serious.
So what? I get lost and dont care. I did it again Saturday. Big deal. What does that have to do with being a climber?

Yeah, I'm with Master Ynot on this one. Wandering around lost in the woods should be a great day even if you don't get to climb. I'd rather spend a day lost in the woods than a day in a building.
As a matter of a fact, any day spent in the woods is better than any day spent in a building. A possible exception might be a romantic interlude of some sort, but even that would probably be better outside.
The whole idea of striking off into the wilderness to reach, or not reach, a goal of some sort is exactly what mountaineering is all about. In the Red it's a one day thing while climbing an unclimbed or rarely climbed peak might be a two month thing. They're echoes of each other. Hiking up an easy trail to a crag close to a road is the antithesis of mountaineering. Hiking five miles up a draw but not finding your wall is very similar to mountaineering. Hell, at least with mountaineering you can see your destination most of the time.
And I don't think gymn climbers should be considered rock climbers. They're athletes that climb but until you're ready and prepared to hike to a crag, set up, and climb unknown surfaces (no colored tape to mark where to grab) you're not a rock climber by any means. Let's include sweating and shivering in the equation. Working out in a 72 degrees, low humidity space is a lot different than hanging on to rock at 90 degrees and full summer humidity after hiking 5 miles or belaying someone in a snowstorm.
C'mon, punch me in the stomach. See?!? I'm a bad ass mofo because I climb outside! Yeah!!!
I really don't care. I'd just rather go hiking to climb than pay money to a gymn. But that's just me. Everybody's a climber. Even if they don't climb.
I love everybody.

Over the years I was so goal-oriented and ,of course, didn't realize"the journey is the goal"(I know it is a cliche but that doesn't make it wrong). The more I am present with what is right now the more serenity I experience.
Ya-fucking-hoo!

I'm not trying to say that you're a bad person or anything. I'm just trying to put a different perspective out there. To me a 'real climber' is serious about the climbing itself, wether it's on rock or plastic.
But the overarching thing goes along with Sprag's (current?) tag line: The person who's having the most fun doing whatever (climbing plastic, getting lost, whatever) is the real winner.

Your opinion is valid. Mine could change any day. Bushwacking is wearing on me.
Its not fun. Climbing however is still central to my character. I did find some lines while I was fighting my way through wet vegatation and pychotic killer Rhodos.
Oh and I found a cool frisbee, a taurpin, and several snakes.
