after watching the game last night at Marika's on southland , i have to say i am quite disappointed. not in the players, or the coach. no, losses happen. it's part of the game and as others have said, it's best to reflect, learn and move on. hopefully we'll take something away from it.

my disapointment lies in the average uk fan.

in the final minutes of the game i said to a neutral, non-basketball-fan friend, i sayz, "watch this. this is what uk bball is all about." expecting them to pull it out in the final seconds as we've done earlier this season. we'll my prediction rang true, but not in the form that i had expected.

so we lost and the people in the bar got hostile. cussing the players. cussing the coach. cussing the SC fans. geez people. ever heard of sportsmanship? sore losers. it's just a game after all. we can't win every time.
what's that? 1976 you say? puhleez.

so, my friend did get to see what uk bball is all about. it's about a bunch of drunken, blood-thirsty, win-at-all-costs, sore loser fans. it was embarrassing.

having said that, we are going to stomp the dog shit outta vandy this weekend.

I hear ya Ahab.

I applaud SC for the win, especially Devan Downey, but take away his prayer circus shots hitting the top of the backboard then falling in and it's another close W for the Cats... at least that is what I'm going to tell myself.

Go Cats!

Go Cats!
take away all of Wall's shots just like that, and UK is now 12-8.

This whole idea that it is good to lose so they can reflect is a crock. It's something that sports announcers made up so they can continue to discuss the games ad nauseum. Any team that I have been on that went undefeated (3 baseball teams), we gained confidence each week. It wasn't as if after 16 wins we got worried. After 16 wins we were unstoppable. Confidence and average skill will take you a lot farther than great skills and a bad head.
