Adam and Eve hunted dinosaurs!
I agree with you here completely. I just think we have different views on what god is, and what is required of us while we are alive as a result, therefore we can only argue opinion from here, and if your as stubborn as I am it will get us nowhere.ElectricDisciple wrote:How anyone can believe in a randomness and chaotic evolutionary process with the evidence of order, logic, and dare I say reason and NOT see the evidence of God's hand in the works of it all is beyond me.
How you compare may not be as important as to whom you are compared

As a former theologian all's i can do is sit back and laugh - and this thread has provided ample amusement.
why does every christian need to read the bible cover to cover? jesus didn't read the bible. he read the TaNaK (what Christians call the Old Testament). if i'm going to do as jesus did - shouldn't my main focus be on the TaNaK?
btw - will the new museum answer MY burning question: Who killed Goliath? was it David (I Sam 17) or was it Jonathan the son of Simea? (I Chron 20:7) or were there 2 giant's named Goliath? I always took the inspired word of the bible to be my truth - after all humans wrote the darn thing and humans make mistakes. but if it's LITERALLY true - i just can't figure it out. there are some other parts that don't quite jive too. but that's the one that stands out the most. well that and why did Canaanite X-rated poetry end up in the bible when it doesn't even mention "god" (see Song of Songs or Song of Solomon depending on your version). how the hell was i supposed to teach THAT in sunday school?!
at one time i was a conservative christian (although i never subscribed to the creationism philosophy) - it amazes me how different/better life is now that i'm no longer labeling myself and others. the thing is - ED is no more willing to consider evolution than the majority of us are willing to consider creationism. and as far as i see it - that's OK.
but, fact of the matter, is that people are not going to change their views because of a thread about religion on a climbing forum. no one is going to say - OH MY GOD - HOW COULD I HAVE BEEN SO DUMB? OF COURSE… the world was created 6000 years ago (or, alternatively, of course the world is billions of years old)
now - for those of us who would like to laugh even more check out http://www.venganza.org/about/open-letter/

Josie;
I remember having a conversation with you (under the influence) in which you applauded my having read through the Bible cover-to-cover. So what gives? Do Christians really need to read the Bible or no? You've confused me. And if, for Christians, the Bible isn't really necessary, why then do we still preach sermons and such?
Actually Jo, Jesus didn't need to read the law, because Jesus was the fulfillment of the law (the TNK) and he was the word incarnate. He was also the person who created the Universe by the Holy Spirit. You've not captured the entirety of the person of Christ and haven't even scratched the surface of his work. John 1:1-3
And about conversations on this forum having no effect on persons, your really putting God in a box aren't you. God no longer speaks huh? God isn't limited to one medium. And besides, one might continue this conversation out of the context of a forum like this one. His Word does not go out with any results.

Let's see, the hebrew slaves saw flaming hale, a river turned to blood, locusts, egypt's first born killed, a fiery tornado that blocked the pharaoh, a parting sea and a bunch of them still built a calf and worshipped it.
Let me see, how many miracles have occured in modern times and witnessed by masses of people? Gee, I wonder why that is? What's even more funny is that with everyone having camera and video phones, half the planet is capable of capturing god's hand live and plastering it on the net. What? That hasn't happened? Darn, I guess God is on the down low right now just to test us.

The theory of evolution is just as stupid as the theories of gravity and electromagnetism.
