It was great to see three of the Tacketts' friendly competitor guide services -- True North, Appalachian Climbing School, and Torrent Falls --quickly arrive on the scene with assistance, food, and offers to loan gear and guides to help them get back on their feet. That shows how much everyone loves Matt and Ames.

As a word of encouragement (after seeing Wes's photos of the complete loss of your place)- please rebuild. You all are center of the climbing community.
Someone had already mentioned a "rebuild" effort. I am sure there will be NO shortage of strong backs with hammer, nail apron, and skil saw to get you back under roof.
Hammering in the Hills!
A Barnraising? This climbing community will put the Amish to shame!

hey if you did build a barn and then had kids when people yell at them and say " were you born in a barn?" they'd almost be able to say yes!

My sadness for your loss could be no more intense. I fear my words are terribly inadequate. Hopefully these will offer some comfort. These words are taken from http://rainbowbridge.com/

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they miss someone very special to them; who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. The bright eyes are intent; the eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to break away from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. YOU have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

THEN YOU CROSS RAINBOW BRIDGE TOGETHER...

Matt and Amy,
We were so sad when we heard. And sader when we heard about River. Heidi sends her condolences too(woof).

We hope you guys will rebuild and be able to move on. You're in our prayers.

I have never seen a rebuild effort that has not trumped the original. I am excited to see what we can do, count me in.
