Wait - I'm still unsure. Will someone who actually knows what happened please post something to the effect of "Yes, we know for sure that this was the result of a confrontation between a climber and an oil compay worker."

Even if his argument is persuasive, an ass-kicking will still be in order. I mean, for cryin' out loud... someone needs their ass kicked. I think that Horatio should do the kicking.
I've had just about enough of this shit.

okay, I think this is getting out of hand and there is at least SOME exaggeration to what is being said here. For example, there WAS at least one other incident with a climber or climbers leading to the destruction of the bridge to Solar Collector by the Oil Company. Remember? So to say this was isolated and there was no tension building is not necessarily accurate.

As far as I'm concerned and until the facts are presented, this is all pure speculation. Whipping ourselves up into a frenzy to kick someone's ass is surely not going to get us anywhere, either. Jeebus, people.

Sandy - as to your earlier question about parking at the Motherlode and walking to other crags. The signs read "no trespassing, private road, keep off" which I would believe refers to car and foot traffic.

That's true Sandy, there was another incident that again the RRGCC smoothed over.

You are also right that we need to chill. I'm pretty ate up with this whole thing and tend to lose my objectivity quickly. It sickens me to think that actions could be eroding a great relationship with a company that we will need to have a working relationship with for the foreseeable future. That fear is not yet realized.

Sita, I'm hoping that perhaps the people who posted the signs may allow foot traffic. I figured the Lurkist may be privvy to that information since he's on the RRGCC Board of Directors. Or perhaps the question hasn't been asked. I wouldn't mind that hike if we could still climb back there. It would also keep the lazy away and therefore the crowds.

True, but have you seen how congested the Lode parking lot can get on a crowded day? And that's with everyone climbing just at the Lode. The roads would be nearly impassible beyond that point because it would be so congested with cars if you added the rest of the Southern Region traffic to it.
