There were 5 people there total, but it was supposed to be small. There were initially only supposed to be 3 people but we had so much work to do that we needed to have a bigger one. We were working on the route auction. There was a lot to consider. Whew.

Pigsteak, it was a specialized meeting for those who are organizing the new website, special events, & the Murray purchase. The majority of our meetings are held open for the public but this was a very task oriented meeting. Now if you care to volunteer for something, I am sure that we have a ton of stuff that will keep you busy. Just let us know.

By the way Piggie. There are no "outsiders" we're all a happy climbing family that bickers and plays just like everyone else. You are the blacksheep though, don't worry.

baaaaaaaaaaah.....

thanks sprag and gretchen for the info..jackson falls is my home crag, and that is where I focus my activism..but I do appreciate what is going on at the Red. I climb maybe a total of 20 days a year at the Red, and another 60 at jackson..i can say it is nice to not have the crowd or regulation problems you guys have...we are on USFS land, and they love climbers. Our only issue right now is the horses and potential for 4 wheelers...but don't worry, being a selfish climber in good standing, i will act for my right to land use, and to hell with the other user groups....

pig

I heard there was a court case regarding Jackson Falls and the allowance of climbing there. Is that true? If so what is the story?

eric..not that I know of....do you have more info on this? The Shawnee Nnat'l Forest User Plan just came out with its revisements for the future, but I know of no court case...

to further the other discussion...when there are so many people in one area(RRG), it is almost impossible to have this pristine wilderness experience....we like to pretend we are "roughing it", and then get back to our flush toilets, flat tent sites, cold beer, and miguel's pie (and even steal a shower). Give me a smooth interstate to get to and from the crags, 24 hour grocery stores to load up, a fully stocked beer trailer only 5 minutes away, best pizza going in 30 minutes (or an hour), but by god if you EVEN think of ruining my wilderness experience with a sign.....

Very true pig, but that is one of the main concernes when it comes to the Red, the large number of people who come.
I think everyone agrees the Red does not offer a pristine wilderness experience. You would have to go very far to find such a place.
We can try to keep it as "wilderness" as possible though by limiting the visual impacts you see when out in the woods.

And thanks for not taking this topic in a diferent direction (Jackson Falls)!

no prob jeff...I love the Red like many others, and just like to stir the pot (like others) so we can eventually come to consensus that makes the mst people happy. Just ask Sprag..I am a pain in the butt.
