I vote we "fix" TROCS as well as tile the base of crags like Military and the Under Tow wall. I am tired of my rope being black and my dog kicking up dust.

I climbed TROCS the other day, and could not reach the first bolt with a stick clip. The bottom was slightly damp, but it is still not bad at all to reach the first bolt. my highest redpoint is 12a, so this climb is not several grades below my limit, but I felt comfortable with the bolt placement throughout, including the high first bolt. At lest where it was, I could go above it and not ground or hit the ledge.

I came in late and refuse to read another 6 page thread on stick clipping. One accident a week so far this year, will this continue?

No fixing necessary. If you change the lower portion, it will only encourage more unprepared climbers to get on the route. Up to the roof is not hard climbing for the climb's grade, people need to be discouraged to get on it just to bail after clipping the first bolt after the roof.

But blacktop is HARD to land on. I motion for 2-ft-thick gymnastic mats under every route, extending at least 10 feet out from the rock base to protect the overhangs.
