i would like to climb a grade IV/V. there, that's my "number" i'd like.
danny that shit made me laugh, "pray they pull a tendon"
and lander, climbing "hard"er stuff can be fun but a whole bunch of people (in my experiences/talks) is that some people aren't happy if they don't climb 5.x because all their buddies do, or they realize it does take work, and then they stop climbing. fun is just cruising a route, getting spooked, and i do have fun getting spanked on and off route. hanging in a harness chaffing my balls aint fun as the climber OR the belayer.

I agree completely, anti. I've seen more than one poser move right up through the grades until they reached the point where they might have to actually work at it a little bit to get better. At that point, it wasn't fun anymore. Hmm. The only thing that ever spoils the fun for me is obnoxious people.

uptight people that reat the shit like it's an office ruin it for me. obnoxious is fine depending on the obnoxiouser. terry = obnoxious = funny
wobblers over dumb shit = obnoxious = funny but not fun.

I assume 14a and beyond inlcudes 5.16c, so I chose that. Anything harder than that I don't I'd have much fun working so if I get there I will probably stop pushing myself.

I warm up on 16c going bolt to bolt. I usually send second go.
Speaking of ridiculous grades, does anyone know if the Clark Mtn stuff on King Lines has been rated yet? If the extension to Ali Hulk is 15b that stuff has to be 15b/c right?

Another thing about the last option.
It's always bugged me how some people say they just climb for 'fun' or disparage number chasing or working routes because that's not climbing for 'fun'.It's like how do they know? I mean, trying to do something that's really hard for you, that you have to work at and often repeatedly fail on, can be an exhilerating experience when you finally meet your goal. But even short of that, the process itself can be fulfilling. It's all about learning and maybe becoming a better climber along the way. I think that makes it more than fun. Just had to get that off my chest. Carry on.
Word.

My dream would be a 5.11a! I started last Oct 07 and I just lead my first 5.10b (Overlord). It was really tough so I couldn't imagine leading a 5.11a.

Keep at it. By Oct 09 you'll change your tune...
