Only really stupid people think they have to clip every bolt they see or sink gear in every good placement they see.

I am confused. I never heard Rick accused of anything, and frankly, knowing Rick, I never even considered that Buster's flame was directed at Rick. I think Rick would as soon denigrate his valley as he would slap his mom. Maybe Rick is a little sensitive (perhaps understandably).
Rick is a good guy. While I know it isn't the Wild West that we once enjoyed, MV is great.
How many times, back in the day, did we sit around and wish for a sugar daddy to come along, by a shit load of prime cliff, open it up, and make everything okay.
Well, it has happened.
He has addressed the gumby factor that gets folks hurt every season by hosting training courses. He has addressed the vagaries in bolting by scientifically studying the dynamics of different bolts in Corbin SS. He has addressed every issue of access from approach trails to evacuation of injured climbers. I am waiting for him to build a clinic in Rogers. (Need a Doc?)
I have said it before. When the history is written, the day the Weber's bought MV will be a seminal day in the history of the Red.
Tell me I am ingratiating myself. I, along with others, have brought up our differences of opinion concerning style with Rick in many other threads. Don't get me wrong. I think the controlled environment of MV is distasteful on a primal level. I think the peer review of the community has always worked best. I don't think there needs to be a sole and final arbiter of what goes and what doesn't. This is well trod territory.
At the end of the day, Rick is a good dude who has brought climbing along way in the Red. I know if you or I had the resources, we would have done the same thing.

While I may be exceedingly tall,
My member tries not to be misled
So when I do evacuate, above all,
I endevour to avoid a short dude's head.

Out of shape, no doubt I may be
I do pull ups only occasionally
but one day I shall return
In hopes on Cut Throat not to be burned.

you guys need to stop this right now! You're making Sarah Bellam's stuff look good, if that's even possible.

ok, buster, was the original post about Rick or not? yes, we know it was third hand news, but did the third hand say it was Rick who was doing the chipping? and can we please have the name of this supposed third party to verify their version of the facts? and what route are we talking about, so ashtray and I can go inspect it on our first and last visit together to Muir?

and pru, was your supposed chipper also Mr. Weber?

jesus people, it is OK to be underhanded and slimey, but if yer gonna call em out, step up. :D

I don't know the kid's name who was telling the story. He was thin and strong, that should narrow it down.
He didn't know who the shabby chipper was so instead of embellishing the story and adding names, I told it like I heard it. This little bit of discretion took every bit of discipline that I could muster.
I just cast out a line to see what would bite.
