So as not to distract form the Rap and Rawkus festivities, perhaps we have this on a near weekend after Derby fest? Just an alternate suggestion.

Good idea Lurkist, it could even be promoted at the Rap and Rawkus to get more people informed and interested. :D

Thats a good idea but alot of peopel stop coming to the Red after memorial Day. lots are scared of the heat and bugs so they either stop climbing for the summer or go somwhere else. But I am up for what ever everyone else wanted to do, cause i have never been scared to spend the summer months in the red. I will be down there all summer spending muy time climbing and putting up routes

I think the people that would be coming to this event probably aren't the casual climbers that would be swayed by a little heat or a few bugs.

Wes wrote:If it seems like there will be enough people to get things done at sore heel, then I think another worthy project would be somehow fixing the swampy section of the solar collector / dark side trail. I would be willing to help out with that, even do most of the work, if someone can give me ideas on what would work best.
We've just started repairing swampy areas of Muir Valley using a new tractor with front end loader and backhoe. It really makes short work of these normally back-breaking projects. It is surprising what a little ditching and culvert pipes can do to dry up mushy areas. Because we bought it from the local Kubota dealership 3 miles up the road in Pine Ridge, it wasn't necessary to also purchase a trailer. We just drive it up the road for maintenance.

If anyone out there has a truck and trailer capable of hauling a Kubota 3830 from Muir to MPRP, we would be happy to work on a few diggin' projects. This will NOT happen during the Memorial Day weekend event, as we will have our hands full with the Bolting Clinic at Muir. Anyhow, it would be best to wait until things dry out a bit. (Last year in this neck of the woods, that did not happen as they had a record rainfall year.)

So, if you can safely help us move this critter over to MPRP sometime, let me know in a PM.

I like this idea lurk. Have this day stand alone as not to take anything away from the Coalition festivial and vise versa. A hot, humid day in mid July sounds fine by me.

Or maybe in June?

What a nice offer Rick.

Please not in July. June sounds better.

I agree with delaying this year. It will help us with planning and gathering supplies. If we do turn this into an annual event I agree with Allah and think we need to have it earlier in the year.
