The article on planetfear.com is actually pretty interesting if anyone wants to read it and the website itself lends a lot of understanding to general (or what we thought were general) climbing terms. http://www.planetfear.com/climbing/feat ... sight.html

Well, if you're not onsighting over 5.14 it doesn't mean shit in the climbing world anyway. All it'll get you is a high five from your crag buddies.

It's really no big deal if you onsight a 5.13 or send it on your second go. You're probably the 500,000th person to climb the route.

The only reason Yuji considers it an on-sight is so that his sponsers will pay more money, and they would put it in the mags. he is all about getting his name out there. he is a really strong climbing and is capable of on-sighting just about everything. but climbing is his job so he has to do and say what will make him money

Ummmm.........that was like 10 years ago Allah. I don't even think the sponsors were something to go after back then.

I'm sure he wasn't the one calling it an onsight anyway. It was the press that considered it an onsight.

Speaking of Yuji.....the dude has onsighted 5.14b. To date, the world's hardest onsight. A sport route originally rated 5.14c. He called it 5.14a after onsighting it. Consensus is now 5.14b. Pretty amazing.
