I certainly agree that the communication needs to be improved. But just to be clear, no crag in the PMRP was closed or ever will be. It's also worth noting that the "PMRP" is not just Sore Heel... it also includes all the Coal Bank crags, Bob Marley, Chica Bonita, and Drive By (not to mention the neighboring Chocolate Factory and Motherlode on adjacent property). In fact, I went to Bob Marley Saturday and Dark Side Sunday and neither was particularly busy.

Sorry for the confusion. We will be sure to make that very clear next year.

And yes, never closed.

Now if we could just get all those visiting hordes to drop a few bucks in the donation boxes at Muir as they stroll past them, we'd be in business.

Thanks Bentley. And Dustin, that will definitely be part of the plan for next year.

Actually, Josephine said it was closed till 5pm. And the RRGCC sites wording made it sound as if the PMRP was "just for you" talking about the the comp. My perception was that the RRGCC didn't want people climbing there unless they were part of the comp on Sat, and to not climb at the walls with clinics on Sunday.
While I wasn't able to attend Rocktoberfest this year, I did help out with the clinic last year. And I can say that the sign posted at the trailhead was pretty clear-- the area (Shire in our case, it was a first-timer intro to climbing clinic) was NOT closed for the clinic. The sign simply informed people that the clinic was being held there, so if they didn't want to climb there, they didn't have to hike all the way up there only to discover that the easiest couple climbs were occupied. The sign clearly did not deter non-clinic participants from climbing there. We had a steady stream of people climbing by all day, and nobody seemed to mind the clinic.

Again, it was my perception... and I think of many others. BTW, I didn't have a problem with it either. If I did, I would have showed up anyways ;)

Quit muddying the waters with your supposed first hand facts. Everyone knows the entire PMRP was closed unless you donated over $100 to the coalition to climb there for the day.
