I'll remember to never park in front of a dumpster that certain individuals are trying to collect aluminum cans from.

Forum Bot: Again, you mistake social responsibility for rules. The person who spray painted the trees not only admitted to doing it but was unashamed and honest about it. Once he realized that the climbing community frowned on it and why, he owned up and said, I meant well but sorry. Any schmuck should know not to block an active well. The Lurkist is saying that the person who parked there needs to come forward and give his side. We deal with the oil companies all the time. I have met many of these workers who politely move to the side of the road to let me pass and wave me on through. Who joke about "rattlers" and have no problem with our presence. So, this is to inform you that they receive the benefit of the doubt in my book because they have generally behaved well. That does not mean that the other person doesn't get to express themselves...but they haven't. These rumors have abounded for almost two weeks now. So, where is the miscreant? That person DOES NOT, thus far, deserve the consideration that the spray painter did.

Hell no he doesn't! I say we form a lynch mob and go after his ass! Some good ol' vigilante justice is just what the doctor ordered!

"Any schmuck should know not to block an active well."
I believe the same could be said about spray painting trees, but that is another topic.

I am in agreement as to this poor behavior being a black eye to the community. I find it difficult to believe that one single incident could set in string a series of actions whereby "no tresspeassing" signs are planted everywhere in the region.

am I too far off to assume that tension had been building within the oil company for some time (as far as it relates to climbers), and that this single event was merely the straw that opened up the floodwaters?

My understanding is that yes you are too far off to assume that. This was apparently a HEATED confrontation. No one should be threatened when trying to do their job. There was no prior tension that I knew of. See mine and the Lurkists posts above, they've always been happy to work with us. The seriousness of the response should indicate the seriousness of the altercation.

Sweet. I'm fixing a fire for a roastin!

I really do want to hear their side of things though I doubt it will be persuasive.
