There are some really good cordless angle grinders out there that'll cut a quicklink faster than you can unscrew it. You'll never cut a chain with propane. Please carry a full face shield with you if you use an angle grinder.

was talking about removing the link that has red locktite alan.

grinding them off could be a better solution if you can find one thats packable, not too heavy and batteries that last. does dremel make a rechargable ?

yes, but I am not sure they have the power. I tried to use mine to cut off a skrew stcking out of the wall were the bolts had been replaced but got no where. I am sure the quick links would be easier to cut though

use bolt cutters. A good sized one makes it easier. less than $50 bucks. They'll bite through case hardened locks, the mild steel in quick links is not a problem at all.
