Let's not put words in anyone's mouth here. I spoke to a long time Yo climber, he said he agreed with you in the distinction between an el cap route and the east buttress. He also said you were a tool.

I'd most definitely prefer to agree with OW, JR, or some of the other people in this thread when it comes down to anything climbing, or life related really.

I'd say you haven't done much to challenge the opinion that you are a tool.

ynp1 we are polarized on about everything. It is interesting to me that this happens so frequently. Clearly we both like to climb. We both like discussing climbing related topics, past that we just don't see eye to eye.

I think a 5.12 is a 5.12 is a 5.12. I mean if they(grades) where different they(west coast climbers) would be whole heartedly in the right. They don't call it the Yosemite Decimal System for nothing.

I am local to the Red and using a stick clip is for pussies. I am a pussy for using one. Just because everybody is doing it and have legitimate reasons for using them doesn't make it less ghey.

I am just glad that our local ethics have more to do with ethics than pretension (how pretentious of me)

charlie, shit sorry man! "OH NO PEOPLE THINK I AGREE WITH YNP1, I MUST TELL EVERYBODY THAT I HATE HIM AND THAT I LIKE OW AND JR MUCH MORE THEN I LIKE HIM" funny shit!!!!

you havent really showed me how i am a tool. a tool to me is a ranger or someone that works for the government.... so tell me why??? let the flood gate open! GOD I LOVE THIS SHIT!!!!

JR, we do both like climbing and we both like to discuss stupid shit. locals do set their areas ethics and that is how it relates to if your a local. a bunch of people from wanting the east butt to be an el cap route is just not going to happen. if everybody in YNP desides it is then maybe it could change, but i dont think that is likely. oh about underminding his achievement, i wasnt trying to do that. like i said earlier i was more talking about he title of the post "el cap"

hey guys and girls! just thought i'd let everyone know about how i have rappelled el cap several times down the east ledges.

i've also seen a number of gumby climbers that didn't really know anything ascend el cap along the 9 mile trail to the top. they must've been true prodigies.

You mean "El Cap" or the East Butress of "El Cap"? Cuz they're not even the same. One is on El Capitan, the other is on the same rock (and it's called El Capitan), but it's a little east of the other routes and thus the best time of year is totally different.

Early May for El Cap
Late April for East Buttress of El Cap
