I have not read the entire thread but I'm pretty much assuming that you didn't get that quote from anybody posting to this thread. In which case your argument is what is called a straw man, a logical fallacy. The way it works is that you choose a weak or false argument that is easier to deflate than tending to the opposition's real arguments. It is a favorite libbie strategy when they run out of real rationale, which is typically right from the start.

This is not an I hate the immigrant rant, I do not hate anyone. I am just as much for the arrest or punishment of the people hiring the workers as well as the illegals themselves. I am an ardent a patriot as anyone, I fought for this country so I tend to uphold the basic principles and ideals a little closer to the vest than most. I would drive down and pick up any "Immigrant" if they were doing the right thing like, #1. applying for a real work Visa. #2, learning the language (hard workers should be able to work hard at this, right?) #3. after completing #'1 & 2, swear an oath of allegiance to our country and live by our laws. etc. etc. I refuse to believe they are that ignorant of the facts, WTF? do they think the border guards are just bullys or what??? I don't believe you expect me to think they don't know better because they are uneducated, most have been caught, sent back, only to return again and again, ignorance of the law is no excuse!!! Wolf, how stupid is it to say, it's ok to break this law, it's just a non-violent law, yeah, it's just a felony!!!! I guess those Enron guys should have been let off, it was just a non-violnet offense, I mean all those lost pensions and stocks, and life savings, oh wait a minute, that's just like the county here in Ohio (Butler county) who's government is going bankrupt housing so many illegals for you know, little things like murder, rape, drug trafficking, just those little offenses..... The Sherriff sent a 2,5 million dollar bill to the Secretary of homeland defense just for his jail, housing these good hard working people, who want jobs, seems crime is a good job too. The rule of law makes no exceptions for the warm fuzzy, feel good, type of shit you are spewing. If you break the law, you are a criminal, end of story. I have empathy for these people, but why should I suffer or better yet, my child suffer (in the future) because the country of Mexico is a piss hole with no possibilities for it's people to prosper there. I speak what is known as tupisch Deutch (typical/street German) I have a strong command of German and I also speak/understand bit's and pieces of Russian, Turkisk, Arabic, Spanish, and French. The military sent me all over the world as an emmisary of the United States. I thought it common sense to assimilate to they're ways of life, where ever I was. Personaly I am sick to death of calling directory assistance, or any type of help line, and hearing Spanish first, then 4 to 5 prompts later, If you need this in English press.... I know we are all Immigrants, and yes the Native Americans were here first, but everyone else has assimilated one way or another until now, bascially, the PC of the left has put a choke hold on being a fucking American and it's total bullshit. I am not saying that they can't still have they're language or culture, keep it, share it proudly, but why should I have to learn they're language to survive in my country where we speak American. I got my first job as an upholsterers assistant, from the proudest American I ever met, his name was Raymundo Garcia. I worked from ages 12-15 for Ray, doing cleaning, then sewing, then whole seats and sofas. Ray immigrated here in 1968, he took the tests, learned perfect English, swore the oath, and cried telling me about it. Ray loves this country and the oppurtunities it provided him and his family. Ray proudly displays the certificates of citizenship for him and his wife(Jaunita Garcia). Since then, he has brought seven brothers and sisters, 3 cousins, and his mother here, all the same way, they are the proudest flag flying people I have ever seen. This is the only true and right way to do it, anything else is criminal, by rule of law of the United states of America. gunslnga, I never said you hated immigrants. Nor did I say that immigrants shouldn't learn to speak English. What I said is that it would be nice if people would be kinder about how difficult it is to learn to speak English. I have heard that "speak American in America" bs so many times, when people ARE speaking the best English they know how as they are learning. So many people are just complete assholes to them. It makes me sick. When I've been to Mexico and spoken my shitty Spanish, Mexicans have been warm and patient with me. Just because you have a knack for learning another language, doesn't mean everyone does, because everyone does not. Give them time is all I am saying. Even LEGAL immigrants have difficulty learning our language...

Just as it's easy for people to cross the border and come here and get work from the AMERICAN CITIZENS who hire them--a hell of a lot easier than it is to scrape together 2 pesos working in Mexico. If your family was hungry and it was easy to get work in another country, you'd sure as hell do it, too. (And "easy" is a relative term here.) You'd do it until there were no freakin jobs across that border. Don't even try to tell me that you'd let your babies go hungry while you waited for a work visa that was probably never coming because you couldn't afford to buy your way to the top of that list, which is how that stuff gets done.

you have to learn it because the companies, (some that are run with their labor) know that the money is there. notice how all your labels are in spanish or more these days. why should they have to learn english?? it's not an official language, alot of our forefathers didn't speak it, and there are more non-english speakers. maybe it is THEIR country. start brushing up on your spanglish.
