Matt and Amy, stay strong and know that you are in our thoughts.

If you need anything at all please don't hesitate to ask. You two have done so much for the climbing community, I'm glad the community is able to give something back.
I see they are still lopping off mountains in Eastern Kentucky. Electricity isn't cheap.

Jenn and I heard from Brian this morning... And we were in shock and crying for your loss.

This is the first time we've had the thought that we really wanted to be there instead of here.

We will do all we can from here if somebody there will help us coordinate.

Matt and Amy

Katie and I are sorry to hear about your loss and are grateful the both of are okay. Although tragic, I hope this event will prevail among the climbing community, and lead to open doors that may have not been open before.

Oh, Ames, Bluegrass Buddy! I'm so sorry! River's Spirit will be with you always!

I'll be up and around soon and I'll be up to help you!

I love you so!
What I love about running is you can meditate while running. It's a peaceful place.

Matt and Amy, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss and our thoughts and prayers are with you and River. I miss him and RRO already.

Wes shared this sad news with me last night. I sat in the Denver airport balling my eyes out for Matt, Amy, River and also for the entire RRG climbing community.

Matt, Amy, I am so very sorry for your losses. I am also infinitely grateful that the two of you were not harmed physically. If you find yourselves in my neck of the woods, you have an open invitation to stay with us--anytime and for as long as you like. You can even have the girl-child's bedroom this time. I really miss you guys and I'm sorry I haven't been around.

I'm not sure if this is a good idea or not, but I was thinking that climbers could come together and do a Habitat for Humanity type rebuilding event. We would need an architect to work with Matt & Amy on plans and some construction experts to guide us, but perhaps with free labor and the insurance money, we could rebuild RRO to be bigger and better than before? I know this won't do anything to ease the pain of losing River, or the personal keepsakes that were lost in the fire, but it might be a great first step in moving forward. I am sure climbers would want to help. I would even take vacation from work in order to be on a construction crew.

What do you all think?

PRU:

Great Idea!!! The RRGCC needs to get in on this and anybody who is anybody (or who wants to be anybody) should be doing something to help rebuild RRO.

I for one am gonna get me hammer and my drill ready for the big day!

I think that a "habitat-for-giving-back-to-the-tacketts-for-all-they've-done-for-the-Red-River-climbing-community" would look kinda crappy on a t-shirt but would be a great event. i've been wishing for a long time that i lived closer to the red so i could help out with development and fund raising. this makes me wish i could be down there even more. maybe by this time next year...
